• Youth and Teens

Young people are an important aspect of every family, and it is no different at Philo Road. We offer classes both Sunday morning and Wednesday night, as well as a children's library and various events throughout the year to help our young people grow in the Lord. We also have a very active teen program, with classes and special programs aimed at the special needs that teens face today.

Children's Classes
The children's educational program organizes Bible classes for children from age 6 weeks through 6th grade. The different age groups are: Cradle Roll (6 weeks to 2 years); 2 - 3 years, Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grade, 5th and 6th grade.

An entire curriculum has been written for each class that provides a balanced 2 year program with prepared lesson plans and hand work. This assures a quality series of classes for the children and makes it easier for new teachers to enter the program. Promotions are usually in September of each year.

Children's Library
Our children's library (room 18) is entirely independent of the adult library, and offers over 1000 books and videos for the children. Open after most services, the library is used intensively by the children who read thousands of pages each year. The children's library is included in the church budget but is a popular target of special donations.

Summer program / VBS
Each summer a special program of studies is organized, sometimes in conjunction with the Wednesday night classes. Often children of several classes are brought together in a group learning situation with a central theme such as "Missions", "Helping One Another", etc. Some years this takes the form of a conventional Vacation Bible School where the curriculum, activities, and crafts are developed by our teachers and members making it a unique experience..

Teens Classes
Classes are provided for 7th - 9th grade and 10th - 12th grade, and the curriculum is determined by the specific needs of the students. Some subjects allow for the two groups to be team-taught in a combined class, and occasionally parents are invited to share a series of classes with their teens.
