TECHNOLOGY

Technology is the eventual catchphrase of the past decade; it strokes almost each angle of our lives, from medicine to amusement to the system we buy groceries. A rapid demonstration make known it also had a deep impact on the manner most of us work.

Just ten years back it was difficult to send or retrieve a fax; you got up from your desk and walked to the fax machine. But, today, with online faxing, by a couple of keystrokes you can make it all. In older days, if you wanted to inquire your coworker about any question, you had most likely to get up and walk to their desk or office.

But now days, however, there are many taxing ways to communicate. E-mail and on-line messaging, in addition to sophisticated phone paging and voice mail systems, have taken the place of the leisurely stroll down the hall brandishing cigarette and coffee.

With the result of all these modifications, we are spending more time at our desks and computers.

ERGONOMICS DEFINED

You must want to know exactly about the ergonomics. In a wide sagacity, office ergonomics is relevant science to workplace design to maximize productivity whereas reducing operator fatigue and uneasiness. Though the concept is quite straightforward, its application is often open to debate. This is why it is important to coherent the real issues facing workers in today's office.

EMPLOYERS PAYING THE PRICE

Whereas workers experience the task-related injuries, employers are footing the staggering costs. According to the Bureau of Labor & Statistics, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are now accounted for 1/3 of all professional illnesses and injuries. They represent the largest job related sickness and injury problem in the U.S.

SOME ERGONOMIC MISCONCEPTIONS

Most of us hear early that if something is fine for us, it may not be enjoyable.

Unluckily, the same reason has trickled into our thoughts about healthy workplace posture and activities.

In spite of what your mother said sitting up straight is not good for you. And even as the old ergonomic theories proposed, sitting with your body at 90-degree angles is not the healthiest mode to spend a workday. In conditions of workplace ergonomics, the amazing truth is that relieve and strength are identical. If you are not relaxed at your desk, it is only because that you are perhaps sitting and working wrong.

Extra adjustability does not necessarily mean more ergonomic. While the aptitude to adjust is a serious component of mainly ergonomic products, workers may innocently adjust themselves into bad postures and positions. Products should be modifiable within a safe working range to keep un-trained users from putting themselves at risk.

Not all products labeled "ergonomic" are really good for you. There are currently no laws or governing bodies controlling the use of the "ergonomic" label. This means anybody can call any product "ergonomic"-from toasters to baby pins to steam-proof mirrors. So buy the right product for safe and healthy live.
